St. Thomas sixth grader Senhit Berhane won first place for an essay about Ida B. Wells-Barnett in a contest called the Freedom Sisters. Her prize was a $1000 savings bond which she will use for college. Senhit had the privilege of reading her essay out loud at the Dusable Museum, and had the opportunity to meet the founder, Dr. Margret Burroughs.
St. Thomas seventh grader Clement Niyigena won first place in the City of Chicago Human Relations essay contest. He wrote about how his sisters escaped the genocide in Rwanda. He read his essay aloud during the awards ceremony and was given a trophy, $200, 20 tickets to Brookfield Zoo, a Derrick Rose athletic bag and his autograph, an atlas, tickets to the Science and Industry museum and free parking. Finally, he received a giant check for $300 for St. Thomas!
Congratulations, Senhit and Clement! We are so proud to have you represent our school!
Shlan has won a laptop computer and a trip to Washington DC with a parent during National Recognition Week this summer. Her logo will appear on promotional material for the DTWT Challenge. Congratulations, Shlan! We are so excited for you!

We are proud of the fact that despite often overwhelming odds our eighth graders go on to attend some of the most prestigious high schools in Chicago. Many students have passed through these doors on their way to future academic success, and we consider their victories our own. We welcome you to share our success! Explore our website to learn more about our school or how you can make a difference in the life of a child.
Prospective students and parents: If you are new to the area and would like to enroll your child, there are still a limited number of spaces available. Further registration information is available in the "For Parents" section of the website, or by calling the school office. Don't miss the opportunity to enroll your child in our unique learning environment!
Current students and parents: On this combined website you will find a calendar of school events, homework help, teacher webpages, and contact information. You can also find registration information, forms, and financial aid information.
Prospective volunteers and parish members: Our school could not provide the individualized services that we do without the support of our parishes and our valuable team of volunteers. Visit our "Get Involved" pages to find out how you can aid us in our mission to provide children in the Uptown community with a high-quality, affordable Catholic education.
