Celebrating Our Retirees

This spring, we say good-bye to three wonderful women who are retiring after dedicating many years of their lives in service of our school and students.

Sr. Arlene came to St. Mary in 2003, after working as a teacher and principal in other parishes in the Archdiocese of Chicago. She has a keen sense of humor and a patient, level-headed demeanor that made her a joy to have as a teacher and colleague. A voracious reader, Sr. Arlene inspired her students to pick up (and enjoy) books that they never would have tried. Through plays, or by reading aloud to her class, she made books come alive.

Sr. Lois Ann arrived at St. Mary in 2003 as well, after teaching in other parishes in the Archdiocese of Chicago. She has a tender heart, bright smile, and always had a hidden stash of candy to share with fellow teachers or helpful students. Many graduates who had Sr. Lois Ann as a fourth grade teacher attribute their excellent penmanship to hours spent copying cursive letters under her tutelage.

Ms. Lasley has been the face of the school office for many years. As the secretary, she buzzed guests into the building, administered band-aids and ice, kept records of tuition and book fees, called parents, and tried to do everything she could to keep the school running smoothly. The school office won't be the same without her!

We are very sad to see Sr. Arlene, Sr. Lois Ann, and Ms. Lasley leave, but we wish them many years of happy retirement!
